Three days dedicated to the oboe and bassoon, featuring masterclasses, educational programmes, opportunities to meet and connect, an instrument exhibition, and two concert evenings with leading Czech and international guests.

The Czech Double Reed Symposium will be held for the seventh time in 2026. Once again, we invite distinguished speakers and leading oboe and bassoon manufacturers to join us in Prague for an autumn weekend dedicated to the world of double-reed instruments.

A three-day masterclass with one of the world’s most renowned bassoon teachers. Individual lessons, reed-making workshop, ensemble playing, concert and the “Drills” lecture.

Only 10 places for active participants (16+) and 10 places for passive participants.

Meeting for Primary Art School Teachers

The meeting is designed as a professional development course comprising at least 8.5 teaching hours and may be funded through OP JAK. 

A day full of inspiration and practical solutions for teaching the oboe and bassoon. Come and share experiences, find answers to specific teaching challenges and discover new ideas for working with your students. The programme includes practical workshops, individual student–teacher–tutor consultations, and an opportunity to gain insight into the work of Ole Kristian Dahl and Louisa Slosar.

Festive Double-Reed Concert

The Festive Double-Reed Concert offers a unique musical experience for everyone who loves the distinctive sound of the oboe and bassoon. The concert will feature solo performances by talented young musicians from the Czech double-reed community, laureates of the 2025 Czech Double Reed Society Performance CompetitionVisitors can also look forward to a large Double-Reed Ensemble conducted by bassoonist Tomáš Františ.

Double-reed players are warmly invited to perform in the concert as part of the Double-Reed Ensemble. Participants performing in the ensemble can attend the entire Saturday programme for a special fee of just CZK 200.

Admission to the exhibition is free. 

As part of the Czech Double Reed Symposium, visitors can explore the largest exhibition of oboes, bassoons and related accessories in the Czech Republic. Whether you are looking for a new instrument, comparing different brands, or simply want to try out a range of models, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to discover and test instruments from a variety of manufacturers.
Visitors will also be able to purchase reed-making tools, equipment and cane, as well as sheet music.
