Meeting of art school teachers of oboe and bassoon
We cordially invite oboe and bassoon teachers to the traditional Meeting of ZUŠ Teachers, which will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at HAMU in Prague.
This year's meeting will be part of the Czech Double-Reed Symposium 2026. In addition to instructors known from previous years, we will also welcome foreign guests. Teachers will have the opportunity to get a glimpse into Louisa Slosar's bassoon reed-making seminar and into pedagogical work world-renowned bassoonist Ole Kristian Dahl.
Program will, as always, focus primarily on topics that teachers can immediately use in their work with students.

How to choose a new instrument for an art school
What should you focus on when buying an oboe or a bassoon? How to properly test the instrument and what to demand from it? This practical seminar with R. Zlesák and instructors from the Czech Double Reed Society (ČSDN) follows up on the Saturday exhibition of double-reed instruments and accessories at the Rudolfinum.
Practical solutions for doublereed troubles
Posture, breathing, reed, and other technical habits that can significantly influence the further development of a young player. The seminar draws on the experience of instructors from the Czech Double Reed Academy with children at the age of primary art school pupils.
Personal consultation 'student – art school teacher – tutor'
The price of the course also includes the option of a 30-minute individual consultation, during which an educator can come with their student and work together with the instructor to address a specific interpretive or methodological issue.
Double-reed repertoire for primary art school pupils
On the day of the Teachers' Meeting, the rehearsal of the double-reed ensemble will not take place this time. However, pupils of the Art School can get involved in the preparation for the Festive Double-Reed Concert at the Rudolfinum under the guidance of Tomáš Františ and Vladislav Borovka.
The joint rehearsal will take place on October 25, followed by the general rehearsal and concert on October 31, 2026, at the Rudolfinum. Children and students from art schools (ZUŠ) of all age categories can participate.
